Overseas, the movie earned $38.3M in 56 markets. "Sonic the Hedgehog" sports an A CinemaScore and a 63% Rotten Tomatoes rating.
BOX OFFICE RUNNERS-UP: Disney's (DIS) "The Call of the Wind" placed number 2, debuting to $24.8M at the domestic box office. Behind it was Sony's (SNE) "Birds of Prey," which earned $6.7M. STX and Lakeshore Entertainment's horror sequel "Brahms: The Boy II" placed number 4, opening to $5.9M domestically. Rounding out the top five, Sony's "Bad Boys for Life" grossed another $5.9M in its sixth week in theaters.
